This article explains why payments made using your Gnosis Pay card through Curve or similar intermediaries do not qualify for cashback, due to disrupted merchant data in the transaction flow.
Using a service like Curve to route payments from your Gnosis Pay card may offer flexibility, but it also comes with trade-offs. One key limitation: these transactions do not qualify for GNO cashback rewards. This guide explains why.
Why These Transactions Are Excluded
Curve functions as an intermediary.
When you pay directly with your Gnosis Pay card, the payment flows cleanly from you to the merchant, allowing our system to track the transaction’s category and eligibility for cashback.
But with Curve, the process adds an extra step:
Direct Payment Flow: You → Gnosis Pay → Merchant
-
Curve Payment Flow: You → Curve → Gnosis Pay → Merchant
Because Gnosis Pay only sees a transaction coming from Curve — not the original merchant — we cannot verify key purchase details, such as the Merchant Category Code (MCC). That’s a requirement for cashback eligibility.
How to Ensure You Earn Cashback
To receive GNO cashback rewards:
Always use your Gnosis Pay card directly at the point of sale or checkout.
Avoid routing payments through third-party wallets or aggregators like Curve.
