How to Activate Your Gnosis Pay Card

This guide explains how to activate your physical Gnosis Pay Card. It outlines the steps required to securely deploy your personal Gnosis Safe and resolve common wallet-related activation issues.

 

Before using your Gnosis Pay Card for the first time, you must complete a one-time activation. This step securely deploys your personal Gnosis Safe wallet and links it to your physical card.

 

✅ Prerequisites

Before beginning the activation process, make sure you have:

  • Your physical Gnosis Pay Card

  • Access to the exact same wallet used when signing up

    Only this wallet can authorise the card activation

 

 

🔐 Activation Process: Step-by-Step

  1. Log In to the Gnosis Pay dashboard

    • Use the original wallet you registered with

  2. Navigate to the Card section

    • Click “Activate Card”

  3. Enter Card Number

    • Input the 16-digit number from the back of your card

  4. Sign the Transaction

    • Your wallet will prompt you to sign

    • This authorises the deployment of your Gnosis Card Safe on Gnosis Chain

  5. Confirm in Wallet

    • Ensure your wallet is connected to Gnosis Chain

    • Complete and submit the transaction

🎉 Once confirmed on-chain, your card is activated and your personal Gnosis Safe is deployed.

🛠 Troubleshooting Common Activation Issues

 

Issue 1: "Lacks the necessary permissions" error

  • Reason: You’re using a wallet different from the one you registered with

  • Solution:

    • Log out of the dashboard

    • Log back in using your original wallet

 

Issue 2: My sign-up wallet was a smart wallet (e.g. another Safe)

  • Problem: Gnosis Pay requires a standard EOA (Externally Owned Account) like MetaMask or Rabby for Safe deployment

  • Solution:

    • Contact support and provide a new EOA wallet address

    • Our team will help link it to your account and complete the activation

 

Issue 3: My wallet doesn’t support Gnosis Chain

  • Problem: Your wallet cannot sign transactions on Gnosis Chain

  • Solution:

    • Use a wallet that supports Gnosis Chain, like Rabby

    • If needed, contact support and provide a compatible wallet address
