Understanding and Changing Your Gnosis Card Safe Owner

This guide explains what a Safe Owner is and shows how to add or remove owners within Gnosis Pay. It includes a security warning about owner privileges and best practices to maintain control of your Safe.

 

⚠️ Warning: Owners Have Full Control

Any wallet added as a Safe Owner can manage all aspects of your Gnosis Card Safe, including sending all funds and modifying modules.

  • Only add wallets you fully control

  • Always double-check wallet addresses before proceeding

 

 

What Is a Safe Owner?

A Safe Owner is a wallet (e.g. Rabby) authorized to sign on-chain actions for your Gnosis Card Safe. Multiple owners form a multisignature setup for enhanced security and redundancy.

 

 

Using a Partner app ?

If using a partner app (e.g. Zeal, Picnic or Metri) check their documentation first as they may have a different method for adding / removing Safe Owners.

 

 

✅ How to Add a New Owner

  1. Go to Account Details
    Log into Gnosis Pay → Navigate to Account → Account details

  2. Add the Owner Address
    Click Edit under “Account Owners”, then Add address

  3. Enter and Save
    Input the wallet address (on Gnosis Chain) you wish to add and click Save

  4. Sign the Transaction
    Approve the on-chain signature with your wallet

  5. Wait for Delay
    A 3-minute security delay will restrict card usage; once confirmed on-chain, the new owner is active

 

 

🛡️ How to Safely Remove an Owner

 

Before You Begin:

  • You must be signed in with a different owner than the one you intend to remove

  • Test the new owner first by signing in with it and performing a transaction in the Safe

     

Steps to Remove:

  1. Go to Account → Account details (signed in as the owner you’re keeping)

  2. Click Edit under account owners

  3. Click the trash icon next to the owner to remove

  4. Sign the removal transaction

  5. Wait 3 minutes for the security delay; refresh to verify the owner has been removed

 

 

🔄 Safe Modules & Ownership

Adding or removing owners does not affect the Delay or Roles modules — you can still manage spending permissions and limitations. These are controlled by the Safe’s active owners.
