This article explains what an ENS name is, how it integrates with your Gnosis Pay profile, and how to set or update your Primary ENS Name using the official ENS app.
What Is an ENS Name?
ENS (Ethereum Name Service) lets you replace your long wallet address (0x1234...abcd) with a simple, human-readable name like yourname.eth.
It works like a username for your crypto wallet
It is stored as an NFT in your wallet
It makes crypto payments more intuitive and user-friendly
You must own the ENS name in the wallet you're using to connect with Gnosis Pay to use it.
How Gnosis Pay Uses Your ENS Name
Once you've completed KYC and reached the signup summary screen, Gnosis Pay will:
Automatically detect if your wallet owns a Primary ENS Name
Display the ENS name in your Gnosis Pay profile (if detected)
ℹ️ Using an ENS name is optional. It does not affect your Gnosis Pay Card's functionality in any way—it’s simply a way to personalise your experience.
How to Set or Change Your ENS Name
Gnosis Pay does not manage ENS settings directly. You’ll need to set or update your ENS name using the official ENS platform.
✅ Steps to Set Your ENS Name:
-
Own the ENS name in your wallet
You can purchase a new
.ethname at app.ens.domains
-
Set it as your Primary ENS Name (Reverse Record)
Connect your wallet to app.ens.domains
Go to My Account
Select your desired ENS name
Click Set as Primary Name
Once this is set, your name should be detected and displayed in your Gnosis Pay profile automatically.
Please allow some time for the blockchain update to propagate.
Troubleshooting: “Why Isn’t My ENS Name Showing Up?”
If your ENS name isn’t appearing in your Gnosis Pay profile, check the following:
❌ You do not own the ENS name in the connected wallet
❌ You haven’t set it as your Primary Name (Reverse Record)
⏳ The ENS change is still processing on-chain
If everything seems correct but your ENS name still isn’t showing, contact our support using the chat widget or via help@gnosispay.com for assistance.
