This article explains the three key transaction statuses for Gnosis Pay Card payments: Pending, Cleared, and Declined. It outlines what each status means, why it occurs, and what actions — if any — you should take.
Every Gnosis Pay Card transaction goes through a lifecycle, marked by one of three statuses:
Pending, Cleared, or Declined.
Each status helps you understand whether your payment is processing, completed, or unsuccessful. Here’s what they mean and what to expect at each stage.
⏳ Status: Pending
What it means:
Your payment has been initiated. Funds have been reserved, but not yet transferred to the merchant.
🔍 Common reasons:
Standard Processing: Visa is communicating with the merchant's bank
On-Chain Confirmation: Awaiting final confirmation on Gnosis Chain
-
Security Checks (KYT): Your transaction is undergoing automated compliance screening
✅ What should I do?
-
No action is required—most transactions clear within minutes
⏱ What if it’s pending too long?
✅ Status: Cleared
What it means:
Your transaction was successfully completed.
The merchant has received the funds
Your Safe wallet balance has been formally debited
What to do:
Nothing—your transaction is complete.
❌ Status: Declined
What it means:
The transaction was not approved, and no funds were sent to the merchant.
-
If any funds were temporarily reserved, they are automatically released back to your wallet
🔍 Common reasons for a declined payment:
Insufficient Funds: Not enough $EURe, $GBPe, or $USDCe
Incorrect Card Details: Wrong CVC, expiry, or billing address (for online payments)
Usage Policy Restrictions: Attempt to pay a prohibited merchant type (e.g. gambling, fuel pumps)
Merchant/Network Issue: Temporary error at the point of sale
